Cool james

I recently bought a f250 superduty when I got it home the tire was going flat it was then that i found that the handle to lower the spare tire from under the truck was missing along with the security key socket and the lug wrench for 37000.00 i thought that should have come with the truck.I also called the ford dealer who told me that they would have to replace the hoist and everything just to get another security socket the dealer i bought the truck from isnt being much help is there anyone who knows if i can get the handle and key through ford or any other way to get the spare tire out without cutting the cable to the spare tire hoist.please help

James,
I had the same thing happen to me a while back with my other truck. I just went to the dealer and they gave me the new piece that you have to install on the hoist and the key for it. It wasn't that expensive either.

I had an issue with mine getting stuck on my 99. Assuming its the same one they had it in stock because they told me they were having alot of problems with them. You might be able to find a dealer near you that has it in stock.

Pull out the plastic tube that the handle slides into when you are going to lower the tire.
Once you remove this tube, you will see the lock.
get under the truck with a long screwdriver and pop the lock out.
I got it out in 20 sec once I figured out how to get a good shot at it.
Now you can lower the spare.
The factory places the tools under the the pass.seat, not under the hood like earlier models(incase you didnt know)
