Steering Column Swap

I am currently in the middle of swapping the cap on my 74 F-350, and i want to install a tilt wheel steering column. I know I can use the one out of a 78 or 79 but i don't want that plastic cover below it. I want it to look like it does now but i want it to tilt. Any ideas or experiance??

ididit or one of those places is about as close as you are gonna get. and they dont look near the same. and they are a bit expensive.

Steering Column Swap

well, i was kinda keeping this as a secret but the shift collar is pretty much the same for all ford tilts (it may actually interchange with a non tilt but i haven't checked). i took a column apart and used the shift collar from a 60's thunderbird along with the metal part behind it that tapers down to the tube. it all bolted together and i just had to put a small screw in to hold the lower collar. allows you to use a truck tilt and looks bone stock. may be a good way to put one of these in a 60's ford as well. hawkrod
