well i just bought my 89 ford f150 and so far the ford is living up to its name... i had to replace the exhaust which isnt ford's fault, just the previous owner. but i was working on the exhaust and i notice a small puddle of gas under the driver side frame rail. so i go over and find out the fuel pump is leaking. the pump itself was. so i replaced. 120 bucks later, no leak. then yesterday i was driving home and it stalls out right as i pull into my driveway. like it got too much fuel and vapor locked. i didnt want to mess with it after a long day of work so i went to bed and this morning fired right up and i drove to work. got off work drove home. went inside took a shower and went to run some errands and it wouldnt start up. cranked fine. but smelt rich, when it would run it sounded incredibly rich and would just bog down and out no matter how much throttle i gave it. im wondering if this is a common thing. i've been told it could be my fuel pump i replaced is bad, or my fuel pressure regulator is bad, or my injectors are bad. i bought a FPR because a reliable source said replace it. well i went to work on it tonite and realized what a brilliant spot it was located at. it got too dark and i just gave up.
does anyone know whats going on with my grey ghost? other than that i love the truck. it suits me just fine as long as she gets me to and from work!

well i put the fpr in and still is messed up. my buddy took a look at it and said its a fuel delivery issue. i replaced the pump again and the fuel filter. still is messed up.
Might be worth your while to either check for codes or head over to an autozone and have them do it for you, free. There could be a code stored but no check engine light.
This could also be your injectors, faul in your ignitions system, fault in your egr system.
Might be a good time to pick up a service manual and follow the suggestions to test individual sensors/solenoids/fuel psi etc.. Good luck
