Exhaust suggestions?

Hi all!

I just bought a 77 f150 302 and the exhaust was practically rusted away. I bought a set of used long tube headers from a friend and I'm putting those on tomorrow.

What I would like to know is if it is worth getting duals or not. Right now I'm just thinking about a single 3", muffler, turndown (no cats). The engine has a stock 2bbl and I think I may lose too much low end if I go with dual 3".

What do you guys think?

Dual 3" will weigh more, and cost more than the engine needs, although it would sound really good. 3" single would be great for some added midrange torque with little to no change in low end torque, and would still breathe well if you decide to mod the engine later.

thanks for the reply. I have another issue now.

The used headers I an looking at buying (still haven't gotten to it yet), one of them has part of the lip of the collector missing. If I take this to a muffler shop can they fix this? It looks like they could just trim it off and roll a new lip.

Just wanting to know if I should get them for the low low price of $20.
