79 axle into 70
My king pin bearings are getting pretty sketchy in my 70 F250 4x4 and since I'm having trouble finding new ones, I thought I would look for another axle to 'throw in.' I found a 79 F250 with a good front end that I can get for free. Has anyone done the swap to a reverse rotation dana 44. All I know is that the measurements are pretty close for the springs, and that the steering arm will work with a little adjustment. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

BnD, Have you thought about moving your sheet metal over to the 79? The diffs need to be matched. The engine & trannys may not match, but can be swapped. Your 70 would have a FE and they were last used in 76. The 79 would have a 400 if they both have big V8s. If the trucks have 6s or 302s they will be the same.
