I have a 4wd F250 diesel 1986 190000km. I get alot of chatter when I let the clutch out on an incline. What would cause this? What is the sequence of testing to isolate the problem?
Thread moved to " Clutch,Transmission, Differential, Axle and Transfer Case" technical forum. Should receive more responses to your question here.

Would oil on the clutch or a broken motor mount have the same symptoms? Again, the chatter happens when the clutch is under load. I also noticed that after a long trip 6-8 hours driving that the chatter happens even under light clutch loading
The clutch has 190000km(approx 120000miles)The chatter only happens starting off in 1st gear when I'm on a hill. If I use the transfer case to start off I don't get chatter!
