V-10 Storage
I'm leaving for TX on 9/27/05 for 4-6 months to help out Farmers Insurance with Hurricane Rita. I'm a Branch Claims SPVSR in Lexington, KY and they need my help down their. I am taking my entire family with me.
My ? is this. I'm leaving the Ex behind. What should I do to her to make sure she's ok when I get back. I do not want to leave the keys with anyone as my neighbors like this car and all have the BSEG for the V-10 but nobody owns one except for me. She won't be driven for 4-6 months like I said.
Any help will be appreciated. I hate to leave her behind..I'm gonna miss her..

Upon your return change the oil and go. 4-6 months aint long, if I had a maintenance-type battery charger I may hook it up. But not one of those 1 amp thingies, even those will boil your battery dry. If it's going to be in a cold climate you'll want to keep your battery charged or it will be no good when you get back.
While I doubt the gas stabilizer thing, do it anyway, it can't hurt. I would drive it until the low-fuel light comes on, and then refill with brand-new gas (if you can afford it).
Everything else should be good.
Some people are **** enough to put it on blocks so the tires are not sitting in one spot too long. That's up to you

ps: My response about gas stabilizer is based on years of experience with gas left in tanks... but never fuel-injected motors. The last 10-15 years, the gas is already conditioned enough that it won't varnish within 6 months. I've left gas in my '74 highboy for 5 years, it started right up and ran fine. My '89 Honda NX650 (Enduro bike) never gets drained, the petcock is left open, and no buildup of varnish anywhere. And the tanks are spotless. Anyway...
Stabilize it anyway, it can't hurt - but like I said, fill the tank to the top (to keep condensation down) with brand-new gas after running it down to empty.
I washed, waxed it, cleaned the interior and used lysol, put Sta-bil in the tank, changed the oil, removed the battery, put the sun shade in the front window and put a rag in the intake to keep the critters out.
Got home the first time, put in the battery and took out the rag. It fired right up.
best of luck and please be safe
