Removing heater control ****
How is the heater control **** removed on '48-'50 ( I think) heater controls? It's the one mounted on a little panel under the dash with the defroster pull cable.

Do you want to remove the **** from the inner cable extension or remove the unit from the dash? I think that behind the mounting hole there is just a nut holding the unit onto the dash. I'm not sure if you can get the **** off the inner shaft. Seems like it is molded in place. You might be able to pull it off and then epoxy it back on later?

The **** I am trying to remove is the one that controls the fan speed. There has to have been a way it comes off since you cannot remove the switch from the panel w/o removing the ****. I just don't want to pull it and break it or something.

Is it possible it's one of those switch shafts that come out the front (including the ****) when you depress a tab or button on the switch body? The light switch works that way I believe. Anybody out there taken one of these apart?
