Because of the cost for OEM '76 outer grille shell, I'm considering switching over to the 78/79 style grille. Does the radiator support need to be changed? Or, can I just change the grille, shell, lights, etc?
thanks
You'll have to drill the 4 holes per side for the newer headlight buckets to match the higher mounting position on the radiator support. A quick & easy job, I just went the other way ('78 to '75) on my F-250. Good luck!

Doc: How'd you know I was gonna ask about doing the opposite?? I've got a cherry 76 grille sitting in the bed of my 78.. Got the 76 bumper and bumperettes too
Evan
I like the 76 front better. If you like the 78-9 style beter go for it. but if you like the 76 better don't let the price stop you. start looking for and original, their out there for the finding, at less than half the price of new. good luck.
I went from a '75 to a '79 recently. I bought the grille, shell, and the headlight shell from Fenders and more. I went to the junkyard and bought the main headlight buckets that bolt to the radiator support and the parking light lenses. I wasn't expecting the trouble with the headlight changeover, but it worked out with the quick trip to the 'yard. Dave
