Im thinking about buying a 92 f250xlt 4x4 with a 351w, auto trans, stock size tires, and 154,000 miles. The guy wants 3,500 but will take 2,800.It sounds good and drives good.
Do you think this a good deal?I will have to sell two cars to get the money but it is possible.
well, just for comparison i got my 1987 F-250HD 460 XL, cruise control, C6, working A/C with about 76k miles for 1600, with california prices. But i think the 92 is the newer model, 92-96, mines the older one, and carburated. What would you be using the truck for? It sounds ok to me, but its not the best you'll find. which tranny, E4OD or C6? E4OD has overdrive and is prone to problems.
It runs and drives real good.Itll be a daily driver, not very far and a hunting vehicle, wood and toy hauler, snow buster, mud thrower, sand slinger, beer can holder etc.But not abused to awful bad.
The back fenders are rusted but thats about it.Ill check what trans and let you know.Where is the best place to find out what trans?
Best place to find out whch tranny it has is the drivers door jamb sticker.
transmission Code e=e4od.
Theres a trannny decoder in the tech articles I beleive.
If you have to sell 2 cars to get the cash to buy this, keep in mind that it will get about 12-16 mpg HIGHWAY. Personally I just picked up a car to lighten the cash crunch I feel at the pump these days.
Luckily I dont have very far to go to work but it will kill me when it comes time to drive 150 miles up north to go deer hunting but it is worth it to drive a big truck.
