Remote Starter Tach source
I have a 2002 F250 CC 7.3 PS and my installer (10 years experience, 0 with diesels), has already spent 15 hours attempting to find the tach source. This audiovox remote starter will not work using the "no-tach" starter procedure. The Haynes wiring diagram for a 2001 shows a white/pink strip wire coming from the PCM to the instrument cluster ( but nothing in the 2002 wiring diagram, he still tried to look for it in a shrink wrapped 42 wire bundle...cound not find that color wire in the bundle hoping that it would apply to the 2002). A commentor here stated that there should be a green/yellow strip wire next to the parking brake behind the drivers kick panel (it must be protected by a cloaking device because it is nowhere to be found) and called it a "clean tach output" wire. The net is quiet about a F250 tach source. The rainmen at the stealership think that I'm speaking in tongues and don't believe that such a thing as "tach source" exists. I'm deploying in two weeks and would like to get this fixed. I'm hoping that the fine gentlemen (using this term generously) and ladies (you are all truely ladies!) could give me guidance and keep my installer sane. Thanks in advance! (remember, I am in the military and a picture really is worth a thousand words
