Ok guys, you helped me before, now I need help again.
Was going 60 mph when truck started dying, went down through the gears until it just stopped. After several tries got it started again. Took awhile with the fuel pedal floored to get up the rpm enough to drive. Drove about 3 miles and it did it again, died. Got it started and was able to limp home. Right now it starts right up (tach goes up while cranking) like normal but driving doesn't reach full rpm's, power. What should I check?
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that both times it completely died I was going up fairly long hills. Of course ran better on the flats but still hits an rpm wall before it should.
Thank you for the reply barebackjake! I checked the fuel pressure and unless I made a mistake at idle my gauge read 1 lb and 0 at 2500 rpm. Does this sound right for a croaking fuel pump???

You should have around 50psi all the time. Either your pump is not pumping at all or someting's up with the pressure gauge.
Yeah cookie88, I think it pumping very little. When the pump goes out does the diesel flow down into the oil sump like some of the older car did with mechanical pumps? I just changed the oil recently.
Thank you!!
