restoring the highboy
Now it is time to do some work now that I know what is needed. I will be doing new front brakes complete. New: rotors, calipers, pads, brake hoses new axle bearings and seals. Full rear brakes: new drums, shoes, hardware kits, wheel cylinders, axle bearings and seals, new rear brake hose. Full brake fluid flush and pressure bleed. Drain and flush diffs and transfer case. New u-joints all drive lines. Complete drain and service of the c-6 fill with fresh type F. Flush and refill powersteering.
Complete tune-up: plugs wires cap rotor points and condenser, fuel filters. I will be installing a new four barrel in that the motorcraft version is really shot. Leaking throttle shafts and next to no accelerator pump delivery. A second coolant flush and refill. A fresh oil/filter change. All that should keep the 429 happy.
What I am wondering is should I go to the effort of changing the u-joints in the front axle shafts? The truck has 114K miles on her. The joints show no play. I greased them and got clean grease out the seals with no rust color. The prolly are fine.. What do ya think?
Thanks in advance,
Bill
When I look at repairs on my pickup, I've learned (the hard way) that "do it right the first time" is the best way to go. Saves time and money in the long run... but that's just me.

Have you thought about upgrading to rear disc? You probably have a D60 or D61 rear, which I have seen kits for.
BTW: How 'bout some pics? WE NEED PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!
