I just bought a 2004 SCAB SD 6.0 Lariat. Bought it used with 16k miles on it but do not have the original window sticker. How do I know what extras I have underneath such as axle gears, transmission shift helper thingy and stuff. I know I can look up the axle code but some of the other stuff??? I decoded the vin# but it is generic information. Thanks for the help?
Check out the SuperDuty FAQ thread tacked to the top the topic list and scroll down to the second post by "Yeti". The info to de-code the sticker inside the driver side door jam on the B pillar will be there. Then post up with any other questions.
Most options are easily found just be looking around the truck. There are only a few "hidden" options that may be installed on the truck. The Camper Package is one, the rear spring pack has a overload spring on top of the pack with a rear sway bar on the rear axle.
Thanks for the help. I noticed my truck sits about 2 inches higher than my coworkers truck and we were trying to figure out what was different. I will do some label crunching...
If you have a F350 the rear blocks are taller, your front springs may be the "X" code snow plow springs. Look at the door sticker for your front spring rate and spring code.
I found out everything and more except for the transmission. Where do I find the code for that? I climber underneath (you gotta try that, neat stuff underthere) Wasnt sure what to look for and found several #'s and letters. Also noticed my Rancho shocks were sprayed with undercoating so the are all black. Thanks again for the help all...
I was in the same position as you last year when I bought my 2001 F250 XLT from a dealer. It had 26K miles and 1 owner but I had no way knowing what options that were installed. What I ended up doing was getting in touch with Ford Motor Company customer service and based on the VIN they were able to create a build sheet that listed all of the factory installed options for the truck so it basically is what would have been on the window sticker. I like it because now I have a hard copy record from Ford for the truck. If your interested, FMC CS email is crcforddiv@customersupportctr.com
Thanks for the info Rafman, that is what I would like to have. I have kept the window sticker from all my vehicles and it has helped out a few times in the past.
I dug thru Fords web and found a contact. They also have a vin decoder but it is very limited info. The sticky on this website is much better. I requested a window sticker from Ford. I will let you guys know what I get...
