too much gas

I have a 1988 f150 truck. When i turn on the key my fuel pump keeps running. It floods my engine and fouls my plugs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks cbway.

It's probably the fuel pump relay being stuck closed. First thing I'd do is replace it.

I think you need to post up a little more info about your problem.
Does the pump run longer than a second when the key is on (engine off)? How does is the idle, how does it drive? Does this happen only why your rig is warm, cold or both? Does your "check engine" light stay on?

It shouldn't flood your engine since the injectors are supposed to be closed...
Do a fuel pressure test.
Turn the key to run, but don't start, a few times. The pump should run for 2 seconds and turn off each time. Pressure should be about ~40 for v8's and 60 for i6 and should hold. Start the engine. Pressure should drop to around 30/55. Remove the vacuum line from the regulator. Pressure should jump up to 40/65 again. If theres any gas present in the vacuum line or port, replace the regulator. Reconnect the vacuum line and pressure should return to 30/55 again. Turn off engine. The pressure should hold withing 5 psi for 30 seconds.

Let us know your results.
Cheers,
Popa Tim
