plug gap
Hi, I have a 1989 econoline 150 5.0 302 when I pulled the plugs to replace them it looked like they had maybe a 5o or 6o gap I dont know my gauge did not go that large the new plugs were pre gaped at 45 so I put them in at that under the hood it said 42 to 46 the parts place told me 54 was the gap what is the correct gap it is running fine but than it was with the large gap thanks for any help Mtttricker

I would believe the sticker under the hood over the parts guy. .045 sounds workable.
With today's high energy ignitions, a larger plug gap is possible then in the days of point ignitions. The theory is that a larger gap create a stronger spark, provided of course the ignition can handle it. I would stay with the recommended gap in your application.
