I am looking to buy a 2005 F-250 SD SuperCab with 6.0L Diesel FX4. I have tried to read up on this as much as possible but the outcome has been murkey. How much can I pull with this rig? Weight? I have read 19K, 17K, 15K. Does anyone know what the new diesel Ford is going to use after the 6.0L is discontinued? Thanks for your help in advance.
Which rearend are you getting? 3.73s?
Auto or 6-speed?
I'd say the most you could safley tow with the truck being 100% stock would be about 15,000 pounds. As the "rumor" has it Ford will be using a 6.4L Twin Turbo motor in the 2007 Superduty. No official word from Ford though so this might not even happen. Only time will tell. Let see if they can get the next motor right off the bat, then they'd be set.
Thanks for the info. I was figuring the 15K but wanted to check because I am going to be pulling a 12K Skidster with 2K Float. It would be nice to see the 6.4L but as you said, only if they can get it out the door the right way.
