IDM's on ebay are about 175 bucks. You can install it yourself, it's in/under the drivers front fender. Follow the injector harness back to it.
For the filter, I used some black RTV on every joint in the inlet tract except where it actually clamps to the turbo. That way I know I have a perfect seal and only have to worry about the one connection.
Yeah. I definitely will, ski! Thanks to everyone who has helped me with this one!
go get your truck and fix it yourself. save some serious cash. a new one which they are probably trying to sell you is close to 1 grand. buy a used one for 100 bucks and put it on. a few hold down bolts and a wiring harness with one bolt. its really close to your air filter you have seen it before i am sure. easy job. dont get ripped off.
Alright...just received word from the shop that it's my IDM. They said it is gone. They don't know about the harness yet...it may be okay. They said there's nothing wrong with my engine. I'm breathing a sigh of relief. The IDM job is kinda costly but nothing like what I could have been facing.
Its a good sign that they even bothered to check the harness. Seems like there are too many parts changers out there and not enough technicians.
IDM swap is a pretty easy DIY project. Drop the drivers side fender liner and it's right behind it.
