Now a category 2 hurricane. Likely to strengthen to a 3 or 4 before slamming the gulf coast somewhere between New Orleans and Galveston. GET OUT everyone! Pray that there is not a repeat of Katrina.
I heard a rumor there's another mandatory evacuation of N.O.
betcha they listen a little better this time. and other places I betcha people will think twice.
not that i want to see it happen but watch this storm go roght to houston where alot of people evacuated to. what would be done then? wonder if FEMA has a plan for that.
normally, my favorite cousins live in East Texas....but luckily, they'll behere in SA this weekend. been planning on comin in for a while now. maybe we'll get some rain here....my pond is like 4 feet low right now...
If this storm hits Houston or Corpus, buy all the gasoline you can get your hands on. There won't be any after the storm for months at any price. Consider yourself forewarned.
If a Cat 5 hits near Houston, anything that is refined will shoot up in price from Gas to rubber to pesticides. A large amount of refineries are located along the Texas coast and a lot are about to start shut down procedures. Many parts along the texas coast have started evacuating and many of the school districts are closing schools down starting tomorrow. Can't find bottled water, coolers, plywood, D-cell batteries in Houston. Hell the acdemy down the street ran out of buckshot and 9mm HP.
I can already see prices rising again . They will speculate destruction and downtime of the refinerys and gas will rise accordingly. I really believe that they need to start building more refinerys NOW.
Just who is the EPA to tell everyone else what can or can't be done?

The stores are nuts. People waiting in line at Home Depot this morning before it opened.
Sears in Clear Lake was out of D-cell batteries last night too. A few AA and C cells left.
I don't need much. More water on hand would be good, but I'm stocked well enough to get by for a few days. They're talking about being prepared to go w/o power for awhile, so trying to prioritize non-perishables.
I wish everyone in Texas the best of Luck with 'Rita'. I live in the New Orleans metropolitioan area, we are hurting big time down here. I finally got back to work monday only b/c I work for a greedy car dealership, my wife has been out for 3 weeks and has no clue when she will be going back to work. FEMA is redicolous with paperwork, the redcross has you standing in line for 12 hours to talk on the phone and doesnt know what they will do for you. National Guard always has rifles drawn looking at you like you committed murder. IT SUCKS! So all I can do is offer my condolences and hope Texas doesnt get nothing like what we got.
