Which leveling kit?

I have '04 XLT SCAB 4X, and I just put 285/70 17 on the stock rims. With NO leveling kit looks good, no rubbing, good tire clearance. I also would like to do the leveling kit (2") but was wondering what is the pros/cons between the spring compression (Tuff Country) and the non compression (EZ-Lift) and the Daystar (Compression/non ??).

EZ-Lift = No Spring Compression. Just the spacer on top of the whole assembly. It was just way easier, that may be the only argument you'll hear. I wonder how much different (ride quality and height) it would have been if i would have purchased the bushings VS the spacer. Hell, i couldnt even find anyone to install the EZLift for under $300 (just labor), thats was the other reason i did that one, so i could do it myself with just garage tool. You may achieve a higher lift with the bushings, not sure, but you'll find PLENTY of info in these forums.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning toward the EZ-Lift, but would still like some info on the Daystar, their web site has pictures but not much about the install.

I just put the EZ Lift on Sunday. Took about an hour per side. Very simple with great results.

Daystar - new bushings which also require you to disassemble struts
check: suspension-components.com/

EZLift - "spacers are C.N.C. machined from 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum" spacers just bolted to the top of the strut assembly (no disassembly) Check: extremetrucktoys.com

Well, i couldnt answer myself as to which one is "better". Its honestly personal preference, and going off of your gut feeling. Kinda using all your automotive experience, and applying it to your decision. Know what im saying? I mean, i could tell you my EZLift is friggin awesome, for my own reasons, and someone else could tell you their Daystar is better. I havent heard of alot of people using the Daystar though, mostly alot of people mentioning their purchase of the EZ-Lift (or equiv.) Basic same results im assuming. Put your pros and cons together, listen to what others are saying, and make a decision. Thats what i did. Hope that is somewhat informative.

Hey Ztunamann & Rhines622, for what its worth, if you check out the other forums @ f150online.com, there is a thread started about people removing the autospring lifts from their trucks, due to clanks, scraping, rubbing and denting. Keeping in mind that these are the leveling kits that are bushings, NOT the spacer kit (EZlift). Again, just thought i would share my thoughts and concerns.

Does anyone know if you can fit 35's on an '04 150 FX4 by only adding a 2" leveling kit? I currently have 33x12.50's on there and have looked at all kinds of pictures, but does anyone have pictures of what a 150 would look like with only a leveling kit, no susp/body lift, and 33's or 35's??

Thanks for the info BLAZIN_STX, just found that site today. Also did a search online for the autospring kit & couldn't find info. Anyway I'll check out that thread. It's taking a while but I think I'm finally figuring out how each kit works.

Any reason why the EZ Lift kit would not work on the new Expedition? The Daystar kit is a direct crossover for both the 2004 and up F-150 and the 2003 and up Expedition. Just wondering why the same would not be true for the EZ Lift setup? I have emailed extremetrucktoys about this, but no response.

I don't see why it wouldn't, but I'm no expert. If you are freindly with your local ford Dealer, they can tell you for sure.

You might want to check your intel, the autospring is the spacer lift and not the bushing. I have the 2.5" on mine and it is a spacer that bolts onto the top of the factory coil-over and into the upper strut mount.

Rhine, if you click on my gallery you can see the end result. I've had mine on for a year now and no problems at all. In some cases (full-lock) your upper spindle may tap/rub the coil. I avoid this by not turning my wheel to a full-lock...I'm probably saving my p.s. pump this way too but that's a whole new thread. If you are remotely capable, the autospring is a fairly easy install. Did mine in under 2.5 hours and I had all of the tools w/exception to the 250ft/lb torque wrench and 30mm deep-well socket(both I rented for free from autozone). After the install I went to Firestone and purchased the life-time alignment and now problems at all.

04SilverSCFX4,
Thanks for the extra info. After looking at numerous threads I think I finally figured out how all the different kits work/install. I'm going to go with the 2" autospring "Spacer lift" that way I don't have to worry about the spring compression as with the Tuff Country, Daystar, RevteK, ect. I also looked at the EZLift from extremetrucktoys.com but something about the design bothers me even though the aluminum looks well made. Anyway that's the plan. Also your truck looks sweet, and the Firestone alignment is a great idea.
