I have an 01' F-250 crew cab w/ 7.3l 4x4, I tow a 33' travel trailer that weighs 9,000#. I have been having problems with the transmisssion I think. I had the tranny rebuilt about a year ago when the factory took a crap on me. When it was fixed I had them install a tranny cooler upgrade to 28,000GVW. It was fine for about 10 months then I started noticing the tach jump while excelerating from a stop between 40-60 mph, once I am up to speed I am fine i can slow down speed up without any problems but from a stop I see the tach jump about 300-400 rpms although I dont feel anything unusual going on when this happens? Also when I let off of the pedal the tach should drop after I start coasting and fairly quickly drop down to idle range correct? It doesnt it seems to take forever to drop into the idle range. I am not feeling the transmission slip or anything but I am not sure if I have problem or not. I took it back to the place that fixed the transmission and he said that it was possibly the throttle position sensor......does that sound right? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Paws

Yes, a TPS can cause that kind of problem. But keep in mind, that is just one of the possiblilities. Check the peddle, and see if the sensor is loose. That sometimes is the case. Hope this helps.
