Unhappy f-150 security???

One of my friends has a brand new 05 f-150 and it has been broken into in atlanta and i think even attempted to be stolen and i was wondering has anyone got an f-150 with fords factory perimeter alarm system i dont think its even an option i bought an escape and it had optional perimeter alarm system and like always standard secuilock thing like on all fords but i looked on ford.com and it an option on all there cars and suv's even the focus has an option of the factory alarm! But why not the f-150 it is much more then most of their cars they sell. Other then that ford does pretty good as far as security with secuilock standard (computer chip in key) on every ford since 1999 gm and dodge never did that until a few years back i know atlanta is big for car theft but secuilock stopped theft of johns f-150.He went down to his truck to find drivers side window smashed and the theft light on the dash flashing rapidly indicating the truck went into stolen mode . This would have been avioded we think if there would of been the perimeter alarm on it.
thnx for any help very happy to be a new member to the forums!!!

No alarm is gonna stop a thief that really want's your truck. If anything it may slow them down, or make them look for an easier target. Best bet would be to have different layers of security, like an alarm, door handle/lock plates, hidden fuel pump switch, ect. even then, they can just pull up with a flat bed and tow the thing away!
I hate thieves!

I will tell em about lock plates i dont like an alarm that goes off every 2 seconds instead when a door is forced open.thanx again

for some reason one of the old B movies comes to mind where the guy was trying to steal a car and it fried his behind! that would be nice except for the possiblity of some lil kid brushing up against your ride and getting zapped

All that does is enable/disable the automatic door locks when you put the truck in drive.

Have you guys ever seen that video of an anti-carjacking device (from Israel I think) that shoots fire out from under the car. That would be a deterant

Not to rattle anybody up a 15 year old kid armed with a screwdriver can be in your truck and have the engine running faster than you can with a key. Ford truck security is not job one. I had the Ford security system on mine. I had so much trouble out of it that I ripped it out of the dash and it now has residency in the local land fill. I have also experienced the 15 year old kid. If somebody wants it, they're going to get it.

This is true of almost any vehicle. If someone can invent it, someone can find a way to beat it.

I am shocked i did not know it was that easy! I though it was some advanced anti-theft device that at least thats what they said at the dealership when i bought escape. It worked for one case of theft i guess im sure they will come back in the middle of the night and make off with the truck.
What kind of problems were you having with yours?

The PATS system (chip in the key) is better than nothing and will stop beginners, but not experts. Especially if they get a hold of one of those universal keys they have at the dealers.

I had my truck broken into, popped the lock in. The plastic handles are worthless as far as protection. In my case, it was just a smash and grab and they didn't bother trying to steal the truck, or ran out of time. I now have an aftermarket alarm with starter kill. I had left over alarm parts from another truck and stuffed them under the dash will a bunch of fake wiring and switches. Anything to make those idiots work harder will discourge them, hopefully.

I never used to worry about this security systems and such i never even payed them any thought. But in my apartments there have been many cars stolen (Cars parked next to and in the same row as where i park my escape!) within the last week and some of them are pretty new meaning they have some type of security system defeated. So im wondering is mine going to be next?? I willl be moving soon yay!
thank you for all your help and good luck with your ford

When I was doing a search for car alarms I came across this site...It looks rather interesting. I am not endorsing it, but it might be worth a look

That sounds pretty good, but I doubt it has NEVER been defeated. I've also seen a special relay that you swap for the stock fuel pump relay and the relay is not active unless you have the other part of the system on your key chain (don't remember how it works, magnetic or RF) Kinda like the Lexus cars that unlock the door when it senses the keys geting close to the sensor.

One way to keep thiefs from smashing your window is to keep all items out of view. This includes cell phones, adapter cords, CD's, Christmas presents etc.. There was a crime study I read that most of the time it's a smash and grab scenario! They love stereo equipment!

Yeah i do that for sure there is nothing that i leave in my escape at all. But i mean they are not after the contents there after the car!! i read some more tips and everyone was right these securilck and all other auto makers keys like smart keys and fobs can be defeated but they slow them way down and that the beginners dont have a chance at fooling the system. But these people are also getting smarter and they will just tow away your car like triton said b4. there are tips however to try and prevent this tow-away theft 1. make sure vehicle is latched in park (duh)2. set the emergency parking barke this way all 4 wheels are locked into position 3. turn wheel to the far right or left 4. activate the steering wheel lock so the wheel connot be turned back to make it more easy to tow away. I hope this helps for anyone who is having a problem with theft i find myself doing all of these after parking at night just to be on the safe side.
