Help Troubleshooting

I have a 2003 Expedition and I am experiencing a problem that the dealer can not figure out. In the past month or so, while moving down the road my truck just stops with know sputtering - no warning. This happens very sporatically (not sure about the spelling) I have been going anywhere from 0 -70 mph when this occurs. (Only once was I stopeed when it occurred) When it does happen, it takes about 2-5 minutes to get it started again. Any other time it starts right up. The dealer has hooked it up to diagnostics while idle and while on the road and can find nothing. They can't fix what they can't detect. The problem is twice it stopped with no warning on the freeway. Once, I was in heavy traffic. I am very fortunate that it did not cause an accident. I can't get it fixed because two deallers can't figure out the problem. I can't drive it because it is too dangerous - especially with two younger children in the truck!

Please help if you have heard of this problem before. I would be very grateful!!!!!!

Thanks again,

Tim

While this may not be very comforting, it will be much easier to diagnose once it fails completely....provided you and the truck survive.

The list of possible faults is pretty long and includes many of the fuel system and ignition systems components.

Since it appears that there are no stored computer codes, there is really no best place to start.

I'd suggest replacing the fuel filter first in case it's clogging.

I'd also suggest reseating all the plugs and connectors possible for the computer, crank sensor, fuel pump circuit, fuses, ignition system, etc.

Not much to go on. Good luck.
