vin framerail location

vin framerail location

hi,

i searched and read the faq at the top of the page, but couldnt find the specific info i needed. i need to know where on the right frame rail the vin is stamped. in know it is somewhere on the right hand side on top of the frame rail, but needto know if it is under the cab or on the frame rail under the hood section.

It can be anywhere on the front half of the frame which means under the cab on forward.

thanks, i was afraid of that ....looks like we are pulling the cab.

I took a picture of my location, and I think it is in my gallery. It is about even with the end of the tranny, middle of T-case, and also was just in front of the front cab mount. Both were on the pass. framerail.

I had to have this checked on my '79 F-150 to get it licensed in Connecticut, because apparently the sticker Ford puts on the cab is not good enough for CT. Anyway it was on the top side of the Passenger side frame rail right up in the engine compartment. Its been a couple years since I had to verify this, but I want to say it was just about a foot aft of the Radiator support.
