It is with great sadness that I announce the sale of my Bronco. With the price of gas the way it is, I had to reluctantly part with my gas-guzzling baby and seek a more efficient (yet still manly) mode of transportation. In a couple of days, my brother-in-law will be the proud owner of a piece of American automotive history and I will be left to tool around in a new F-150.
I'd like to thank all who contributed to the questions I posted. Your advice was helpful. To all of those who listened to my advice on your own posts, I hope I was right (or even close) and helpful. If I was wrong... sorry, my bad.
Good luck with your Broncos. Who knows, maybe Ford will come to their senses and revive a classic.
92 sorry to see your ride (bronco) leave , dont be a stranger to us. I can undertsand the gas prices and some times want to sell my bronco for a new harley(well another one)Wont part though with the bronco or my 1985 f-150.My bronco is a 1992 and the work ive done to it is a $$$ loss if i was to sell . GOOd luck TR
i am pleased to announce that i filled up my gas tank completely for the first time or the first i can remember its been full. Im gonna take a pic of my gas gauge so i can look at it later.
you know that the gas prices wont stay this high forever, just until everything in gulf is fixed (gas refineries)! gas wont be going to $2.25 a gallon though, but will be well below $3.00! after rita and everything gets fixed gas will go down. i'm getting a free 4cyl. truck (nissan) and putting my bronco under a non-op for now. then when gas prices lower, selling the truck (all at profit) and taking the sexy bronco out of the garage!!!! but seriously people are selling their cheap *** trucks right now and buying more expensive vehicles! think about how many miles you have to travel to make up the added cost of buying a new vehicle!!! then what if your used vehicle has problems (which it probably will), add that the the total cost too! lets not even go into the expensive *** hell brand new vehicles! lol, if you do alot of comuting then sure, sell it, but if you like me and just drive 3-4 miles per trip (8 mpg!) then you would lose alot of money!
Just somthing for you all to think about, sit down and plot out on a graph how many miles you would have to travel to break even on your more efficent vehicle. you'll be surprised how many miles you will have to travel!
If anything right now is the time to buy these gas guzzlers!!! cuz they cheap right now, but after the refineries open back up, the value of these will be going up too! kinda like the stock market.
While their price might go up somewhat after things get sorted out, the market for big cars will never be the same. The main cause of the high oil price is simply supply and demand -- mostly because of some developing countries like China and India whose thirst for oil has skyrocketed lately, demand outstrips supply. And while the Gulf coast should be OK in a short time, and maybe even Iraq can start to export oil again in a year or two, barring a miracle, the overall picture won't change. Gasoline prices will be high enought that a significant number of people will abandon their older, gas thirsty cars.
Personally, I'm commuting to work in my Bronco, but with my weekly gasoline cost well in excess of $100 nowadays, that will probably change in the not very distant future. I won't be selling my Bronco, though, as I have to have a vehicle capable of towing a trailer, and driving on those less traveled roads, or no road at all.
Great..first Katrina...and now Rita. OK, time to look for another motorcycle. At almost $90 to fill up, I'm done. Although you don't see me rushing to buy anything else. I'll keep driving my F150 and looking for another Bronco, until I find that deal I just can't pass up with a motorcycle of little 4 banger convertible.
