Getting ready to pull the trigger on an MBRP 4" Turbo back system with 5" angled tip. Questions is, is the 304 Stainless worth the extra $300? Would like to hear input from people who have both. Thanks!
Hey,
t409 is barely stainless. It has just enough mix to call it stainless. it will oxidize and break down in time. 304 is the best if you can afford it. T409 is more salt resistant and acid resistant than plain carbon steel but....it will corrode out. T 409 actually was developed as a marketing ploy for the exhaust industry for low cost 'stainless' exhausts. You can see lots of systems and shops that put on 'stainless' systems for a nice low price. If they don't say or tell you it is T304, it is the low cost crud T409. you can certainly get by with it, vs T304. I still use carbon steel for my duel pipes.
just my .02 worth.
