Question Lights Don't Work

My friend has a 2001 F150. Yesterday the turn signals stopped working. Upon further inspection we realized that the hazard lights and brake lights don't work either. The head lights, parking lights, and tail lights work. So does the third brake light on the cab. Brake lights front and rear turn signals and hazards however do not. Does anybody know what might be wrong? I suspect the multi switch on the steering column. The high beams and wipers work, so I don't know if it is this switch or not. All fuses seem to be good. Is there something else that could cause this?

Did you check the fuses inside and out side the vehicle? the engine cpartment also has fuses. Then I would check the relay for the turn signals and hazards. most vehicles have two one for turn signals and one for hazards, not sure what the newer ford trucks have. Someone will chime in about that.

All of that goes through the multifunction switch - sounds like your problem. Check the harness inside the column and make sure it is plugged in good. Play with the hazard button then try your turn signals/brake lights etc with the button depressed and then up. If they start working- thats for sure your problem but thats probably it even it they don't start working.

We found the problem. It was the multi switch. For some reason when the steering wheel is tilted down the lights etc don't work. When it is tilted up a little bit then everything works fine. So, either the connector is broken or it is not plugged in all the way. I have seen this before. I just didn't realize that it affected the brake lights too. We will be looking into this more in the next day or so.
