Could someone tell me if a MSD 5 igniton module would totally replace my stock igniton module (duraspark)...I don't have any spark and can't seem to locate the problem so I think I will replace my whole ignition system (except dist. and pickup coil)
76, yes, it will replace the Duraspark module. The pick-up coil inside the distributor causes a lot of no-spark conditions, so make sure that it is good. Also check the black wire going into the distributor. It is the only ground wire for the ignition.
the MSD 6A box rocks even harder, full CD multisparks for 20 degrees of crank rotation until 3000 RPM, and the primary voltage is 450, talk about a hard-hitter! It still replaces everything, and it's just as easy to hook up, but it's about $35 more. Just something to think about. TK
