Accident :(

Well, I got a quote back from the body shop and they said $5,000 in damage... I was headed back home from a family get together on labor day and i stopped for a redlight and the woman behing me fell asleep at the wheel. Nailed me dead center in the rear. Speed limit was 45, and the police officer thinks she was doing about that. She was driving an 01 jetta. Airbags in her car decided not to work...which is odd. Anyways, her car is totalled and i'm stuck with driving the either one of the explorers, the expedition, or the 350...so i don't have TOO many choices. lol. The bodyshop can't get the insurance company (state farm) to ok new parts...they just want to use recycled parts. The rep told me that at the time of the accident the truck had used parts on it...um NO...try again. I was rear ended last year also and the parts i got were new....so yes they WERE new. So we argued for a bit, and she stil wouldn't okay new parts. I told her, well i didn't have body filler before, so why now? Insurance companies sometimes make me mad. Now here's the deal. The bed rails I had before were a combined total of $440. The ones I want to replace them are only $150. So with the money left over can i have them get me a real trailer hitch and a new windshield? I at least want to come out of this with something. Thanks and sorry for the long post....

sorry about your luck. Thought I would share my experience since my situation is strangly familiar. I recked my ranger the other night, my fualt, thought i could make a yellow light, but didn't and t-boned a car. very little damage though, front bumper and quarter panel, which equals $3,000.

Funny thing is, is that i have my 350 to drive, but if i didn't have that i would have a explorer or an expo to drive. Kinda strange i thought.

Hopefully everything works out good for you.

That's really weird...accident wasn't my fault though...what kind of 350 do you have?? '99 CC LB dually is mine...then an 03 expedition, an 03 explorer, an 05 explorer, or my fun car... Guess we have good taste...lol good luck with your truck

CHeck your policy, it probably states somewhere that they may use used parts at their discretion or something..

BY the way, you dont say what year or kind (assuming ranger) of truck was wrecked.

From: Alvin, Texas.
If you really are being wrong, you can always get a hold of your state's insurance comission and file against your insuarnce company.

Of course, being this is 2005 and your truck is likely to be older than that, I doubt the insurance company HAS to get you NEW parts.

As for airbags not going "POOF" for the VW, airbags are like VWs, they are hit and miss, really. My Ranger is pre-airbag, so that takes the suspense out of things for me.

Right, I was curious how close it was to being a total loss, not too close I guess.

Mine is an 04 ranger FX4 Level II with only 3k miles. Just did the first oil change and detail. Probably why I wrecked.

My 350 is an 05 CC Lariet. Also have 03 explorer, 04 expedition, then have that 04 lexus rx30 and a 02 porshe boxter.

With my insurance, we pay extra for the 350, lexus, and porshe to have only new ginuine parts used. Don't have that for the ranger, so I can get reconditioned parts.
