I just installed a trany temp gauge. I have a 1999 f-250. I will be towing a little and with a camper on the back.
As of now driving around town with nothing on or behind me, it looks to run about 125.
What do you think is normal and what would be the max safe temp while towing.,
I installed it on the drivers side port above the shifter, from my reading it said that there will be oil coming out but not fast. I did'nt have any oil come out and I am wondering if it is getting a true reading from there, since it does'nt seem to be submerged in oil.
Yep - ditto to what Ltfox said. If you didn't have any oil at all come out - maybe give your trans a check and make sure you are not low on fluid... but that is the right spot for it, so you should be all set to go!
