New guy, Old truck

Hi,

First post here, just found the site tonight when trying to find some info on the body tag codes.... Seems to be a great resource so far, as I've learned a few things about my old baby already.

Start off with an intro:
1965 F-250 Camper special, Dad bought it when I was under 1, gave to me at 25, and now at 30, I'm thinking that I can't sell it and need to do something with it. It's been a family workhorse, and can "haul it's own weight" without question. First concerns were with parts catalogs, and the incorrect looking pictures of the "61-65" parts, but after browsing the site here, I see that the pics were probably correct, and not counting for the camper special option that I have. Someday it will be my not-so-work-truck, but for now I'm simply looking for resources to get replacement interior and trim parts if anyone knows of good sources....
I'll get some pics of it ASAP, as it has been for the last 28 years.

I've seen alot of nice trucks here, and hope to add another to the list in the near future.

Thanks
Brad

Thumbs up

1st off Brad, welcome to our happy group here at FTE
FTE is one of the top sites for Our Trucks, & all FOMoCo trucks in fact.

A point of clarification is in order. People commonly lump all our Ford 61 to 66 F Series Trucks together since at first glance, or outwardly they appear the same. Don't be mistaken they certainly are not. Although some parts may interchange, the vast majority will not.

61 thru 64 are extremely similar to each other, but entirely, absolutely, very different from 65 & 66 models. Truth be known 61 to 64 more mechanically resemble 57 thru 60 technology while 65 & 66 more closely resemble 67 thru 79 technology. This makes later technologies available to our earlier 65 & 66 F Series FoMoCo trucks on a virtually bolt up basis.

If you post the info on your data plate one of us will translate it for you, including build date and which DSO it's from.

Again, welacome to FTE & our worls, and if we can help you with questions you may have ask away we'll see what we can do.

I don't know about catalogs, as most of the sources are going to websties.
Since they don't buy space here the webmaster gets duly unruly and/or hinky if we push them here by giving out their URLs through this site. Motorhaven sells some parts right here on this site, the others make, reproduce, and sell specific parts for our trucks from trim, sheetmetal, to interior, to fasteners and emblems and medallions and whatever a restorer might need. would you like me to contact you with some of these & that info?

Thanks for the welcome FBP..

I wasn't trying to be critical of the catalogs, I haven't spent a great deal of time on research, but I do get a (hope I can print this here without trouble) LMC magazine about every other month, which is what I based my intel off of... As I said, the pics rarley resemble what I have, other than body style... Instrument panel was the first noticed. I had never seen an Instrument panel like mine in the ads for replacement parts. I was starting to wonder if I had a scab-to-gether dash, until I was here tonight and started reading about the CC upgrades..

Aside from the lack of information, yes I would love for you to forward that information to me.. It will be a great deal of help in the future..

Thanks
Brad

Hello Brad, Welcome to FTE The best truck show on the net.

FBP is a walking cyclopedia, between he and a few other regular posters here you can find out about anything you need about your truck. A catalog about once a year or so will get you through your parts needs. There are only so many parts out there available and the different cats. are showing the same ones.

Hope you will find a spot and join the group. Read the archive threads, most of your questions have already been asked.

C ya on the boards.

John

Again Welcome aboard Brad;
You have tap into the best resource of FORD enthusiasts on the planet; Yes mag's are a great resource; but Tech manuals are better; but the two above mention gentlmen are some of (it not the best) source of techincial support you'll ever find; Also another great sponsor who will send you a free magazine is Mac's auto parts; check out the sponsor's profile on the left side of your screen.
Also check out the very first thread on 61-66 post for alittle info as well.
F250's do cross over from 64 -66 models one a couple parts as well.
Again Welcome...

Mitch
