Today I was putting a new engine in my truck and i was swapping everything over to it. There is a rusty tube coming out from my lower intake and goes up to my upper intake right by the throttle body, anyways the tube broke. I think it has somthing to do with the smog system. Do I realy need this or can i pinch it off and forget about it..
One more thing how do I know what positoin to stick the distributor in? Thanks!
The distributor likes to be on top! (evil big sexist pig grin)
hehehehe.
Is that rusty pipe the EGR tube? What truck are we talking about here?
To install the dist turn the engine by hand/wrench so that #1 cylinder(front-most left side as your facing it) is in the up compression stroke. Place your thumb over the sparkplug hole and turn the crank until you feel the pressure in the cylinder, then use a plastic straw, chopstick and turn the crank until your sure the piston is all the way up. Now you can install the dist with the rotor pointing to the #1 terminal on the cap. You should have a sticker in the engine compartment to show whereabout #1 is on the cap.
EGR tube... is important... bascically you want all that stuff on there and in right... if your smog system is not working correctly you can clog your cats...
