4 gauge pod

I'm plannin mods for a new 06 and wanted to go with a 4 gauge pod this time. The only issues I see are the fact that the 06 comes with a boost gauge.

I was thinking rear diff, tranny, EGT, and ?

What do you guys think?

I'd also take a look at a fuel pressure gauge and/or dual pyrometers (one in each manifold)

The dual pyrometers are great for indicating a weakened or out of balance cylinder.

customz,

If you tow heavy, get a pyro, boost, trans and rear diff temp. If you don't tow heavy get the oil temp ot pressure. The stock boost gauge is sort of OK, we have seen them be as accurate as can be and also off by as much as 4 PSI. The trans temp is a real joke. If you have any questions call us we have the 4 gauge pods, Auto Meter, Isspro and DiPricol gauges, factory style wiring harnesses and paints etc etc to make your install easy as possible.

I already have the Diff Temp, EGT and Boost... If i were to install another it may be a Post turbo EGT gague... Just something to compair, Considering theres really nothing elce i think you would really "need"

Customz,

Dosnt the Factory '06 Boost gague Plug in to the Map Sensor like the Edge does? If so i sure wouldnt Use it to get a Real reading of the Boost Pressure.. My edge reads 25psi when my Autometer reads 20... I would do the same as you but also run a Boost gague... That is as long as the factory gague is located in the Map Senser like the edge.. Just something to think about.

Doesn't look like you guys really care for the factory boost gauge, but I think I'll use it anyway. If the XL doesn't come with boost I'll get it. Right now I am planning on EGT, Tranny Temp, Rear Diff Temp and can't decide between Oil Pressure and Oil Temp.

Are the factory oil pressure and temp dummy gauges or are they reliable?

The factory oil pressure gauge is just a 7psi pressure switch, not really a gauge. I would go with oil temperature though, because there isn't a factory unit at all and oil temp is greatly important when dealing with an engine which uses not only antifreeze but its own lube system to cool the engine. Hence the purpose of the oil cooler.

I'm going to a 4 gauge pod...

Boost
Pyro
Tranny
Air : For Train Horns

Future plans: Volts, Rear Diff, and ?

I've heard the same thing about the factory boost gauge being "off". If you tow...I would definately get an accurate boost gauge.

now im confused. I was going to get a 3 gauge pod with boost, EGT, Tranny temp, but now im torn with the 4 gauge pod and wich ones. I will be doing heavy towing about 17k but not very often, so should the 4th gauge be oil temp, or rear diff temp. any ideas?

I have the typical boost, EGT, trany temp gauges, and also a dual needle air gauge for the air bags and on board air tank.

I do not know if things have changed(let me know), but I was told by a dealer that the "gauges" installed by the vehicle's manufacturer are REALLY only "INDICATORS".
I had a continuous problem with a "gauge" reading acurately in my truck(years ago) and after many trips to the dealer, this was their "final answer"! "if I want accuracy, buy aftermarket gauges".
Is this still true?
