Just curious...got a 1990 B2 w/ 2.9L in her w/ almost 192K on the truck. She still runs great and goes where I want her to go but I really don't take her up the sides of steep mountains or thru 4 foot deep mud holes either! Not much of that here at Fort Bragg, NC anyway. My question is when the 2.9L finally calls it quits...How hard would it be to throw in a 302? I believe it has a A4LD tranny but don't quote me!
From what i've been reading it isnt to hard. I'm getting ready to do a swap myself and the only reason i can think of that would make it hard is if you didnt have the facility and equipment to do the swap. Have you found any good trails on Bragg? I usually just go out around Mott lake since its close to me dont really want to go out accross bragg to go trailin.
Yep what he said. A 302 or a 351 Windsor block will fit right in there. As far as the tranny, you could probably use the one from the donor, or get a race tranny from Summit! But do a 3" body lift and it will save you some troubles and time. While you're at it throw in some 4.56's and Dana 60 axles .
Thanks for the info! As far as trails @ Bragg...MP's tell me as long as I stay off the fire breaks then I'm cool. I got a 4" sus and 3" body lift on my B2 so I'm good there. I will keep those gears and axles in mind!
