My 05 CC LB SRW 4x4 weighs like this on a Gov't scale.
Front axle 4378 pounds
Rear axle 3278 pounds. Total of 7656 pounds.
This is a V10 with me ( 185 ) inside, full tank and I have added about 150 pounds of assessories, most of these on the rear axle. A PSD weighs 400 pounds more than the V10 so this model with a PSD would be 8100 pounds.
Wow, that was the GVWR of my 1975 F250 !!
I am curious how the other models, SB, Dually , SC, and regular cabs distribute their weigh from front to rear. The Ford brochure weights from 04 models and 05 models seem to indicate the 05's weigh about 300 pounds more and I believe this was added to the frames to give the GVWR increase. My model went from 9900 in 04 to 11200 in 05 so that is a payload gain of 1000 pounds which is not too shabby.
2003 reg cab long bed 2WD 5.4L, I am at 3350 front and 2750 rear for a total of 6100. And this is empty with me in it (160lbs) and 3/4 tank of gas. A bit heafty for the cheapest and lightest Super Duty, Ain't it? 8800 GVWR and Ford says the payload should be 3440lbs.
6100 pounds is heavy. These trucks have solid frames. My 1975 F250 was a reg cab 4X2 and it was a 390 which is a Big Block and had a 4 speed stick and I am pretty sure that truck was around 4700 pounds. Everyone thought that 75 was built like a tank but 30 years later Ford is building heavier trucks.
