Question Security Devices

I have a 2000 Ranger. I am looking for a good security locking device, not an alarm system. I have read that The Club an other steering wheel locking devices are easily defeated by cutting the steering wheel. What other locking devices are available that provide the best protection? I have seen some kind of a locking device that uses the brake pedal but not sure if they're any good either. I understand that a good theif will steal your vehile no matter what but I am just looking for some kind of a good locking device.

Any product information or suggestions welcomed.

The chipped key for your Ranger is a great safty devise that you already have. Do you really need more security?. Is so, you can always hide a switch to disable the ignition or the PCM.

About the best I have seen is also the cheapest, a fuel cut of switch located in an out of the place. But it has to be easy enought to get to that you will be able to turn it off/on with out too much trouble. The Crook won't spent much time looking for it if he gets in. A decal for an alarm system on the glass will cause him to look elsewhere rather then pick yours. But as you said, if he wants it he can have it on a tow truck in 60 seconds and be gone.

In Street Rodder October 05 issue page 214 they talk about a tire deflator. They give a web site as www.tiredeflatorusa.com.

Thanks for the information. That tire deflator certainly is different. I think I'm going to get a brake pedal lock:

Thanks again for the reply!

Even with the brakes locked they can still put it on a flatbed, if they want it bad enough there's not much you can do.

I dont even have a truck worth stealing, so I dont worry about that much. if I did, I'd have a fuel cutoff switch, ignition switch and hidden setup to actually start it.
