Running a tuner you would want to open it up and let it breathe.
A 4" DP won't cost much and you can buy the pipe parts from one of the sponsors here and run a straight pipe, if that's what you want.
just start by taking the muffler out and sticking in a piece of pipe. do the same with your cat if you have one. this method is fairly cheap, easy, and you get some performance help as well. more jsut to let the truck breathe better. then, in the future, ou can work you rway into a new DP, and whatever exhaust system you'd like.
