Couple of problems...

Been a while since I posted here, I guess that means I haven't had any problems

But now I do,

the first one is my temperature control **** sticks, if you fiddle with it and turn it real slow, it will unstick and actually control the temperature. When it sticks, it will feel like it is turning, but itfeels like it is slipping. The index on the **** and the shaft are good, so it is somthing internal. Any ideas???

the other is the "check engine light" I checked the IAP(?) valve and it looked clean and moved ok, I took off the iron body from the intake and all the ports were clear (just a little carbon on the sides) The vacuum diaphram is good and you can move it by sucking on it.

Do I need a DPSE sensor? and where the heack is it? I looked for something that had to do with the EGR assembly, but didn't see anything that looked like it did.

what was the code for the check engine light? the DPSE sensor is right beside the egr valve it is a rectangle box with a electricle plug and to vaccum plugs, (normaly a aluminum metal box or black plasic newer version) held on by two fasteners. I believe the IAC is electricle so even if it works manually that does not mean that the electrical part inside is not bad.

what year truck and engine also helps.

can't help on the temp control but the unit may be bad and stripped the way you descibe it.

Sorry, got interupted during my post.

It's a 4.6 L 2000 F150 Scab. I had a friend use his fancy Sun code reader/tester on it and I don't remember the exact error code, but he said, according to the code, it was my EGR vavle and he could change the voltage to the electric IAP valve and the other readings showed it to be moving.

My friend doesn't work at the same place now, so no more access to the reader/tester.

If he said the egr valve then alot of the times it is the dpse sensor and it is right next to it. cost is over 100.00 $ at the dealer. Napa can get one for about 80.00 but mine had to special order it and it took a week. could get a used one from a junk yard. Ebay sells new and used ones.

I would caution you to clean all the ports when the egr valve is off that can also cause lots of problems. It is easier if you remove the throttle body and clean all the ports in the intake at one time.

Sounds like he had a really good scanner a good friend to keep close.
