As Monsta noted, I found the rear anti-sway bar on our '97 Expy to be hollow (rolled tube). Obviously, things change across model years, so I'm not totally suprised by the later ones being solid. The anti-sway bars on our '04 Expy appear to be solid, but aren't much bigger in diameter than a pencil!
I've installed Hellwig bars on an '01 F350 and an '02 F150 S'crew. Neither vehicle came with one from the factory. The Hellwig sure did help when cornering & towing!
