air conditioner temperature

Gentlemen,

I know it is late in the season, but did you know that the temperature of your air conditioner is adjustable at the pressure switch?

This is not a fix for defective parts or incorect refrigerant charge but if all else is correct and air is too warm, or too cold, remove the electrical plug from the pressure switch on the accumulator, peer inside, there will be a slotted adjustment screw. Turn cw for warmer (if evaporator is freezing up) or ccw to make it run cooler. Turn screw only 1/8 turn at a time, the adjustment is sensitive.
Correct adjustment will yield air temp of 40 to 45 degrees on a dry day at cruise.

Gentlemen,

As a followup to my post, for you guys in cooler climates, you can improve the efficiency of your a/c (use less gas) you can adjust the pressure switch to put out slightly less cold air, say 60 degrees, this will result in less compressor run time (percentage) and is more efficient because you will not have to mix the cold air with heated air as the blend lever does. These are simple adjustments that ae easily reset if you don't like the results. remember, the adjustment is under the electrical plug.
