Recently my a/c and heater has only one blowing speed. High. No matter what the **** is set at it only blows out at high speed. Any help on what might be the problem here.
Coincidently I am having this problem with a jeep that my wife owns except it ownly works on high. If the principal is the same between makers it would seem that IF the resistor block is blown then it would only work on high as the other speeds wouln't be able to complete the circuit. He stated that the blower blows on high regardless of the setting. That seems more likely to be either a switch issue or short in the wire to dead ground causing high speed regardless of the setting.
it's the same with every brand. my wifes liberty had it fail. only 4th speed. droped the glove box door down, 2 screws and changed less then 20 bucks at the dealer with tax.
if i remember correctly on a sd it's under the hood by the blower motor. it's a cheap fix and easy to do.
HELP SINGLE MOM SAVE SOME $$$$!! I am new to this but need some help. I have a 95 Explorer with automatic temp control. I have the same problem, heat only runs on high setting. Does that sound like the blower speed switch is out or the blower motor relay? Are these under the hood or behind the control panel?

The manual I have said that the relay is in the fuse block under the hood (in my 94 it is) Since you have a 95 you will have to look around for it. The resistor on the 94 is on/in the blower motor housing that is screwed to the firewall and is removable from under the hood. To inspect the resister on the 94 you have to remove the blower motor from under the hood.
Hope this helps. I can take photos of my 94 and post them as I will be taking it apart this afternoon. I have no fan at all so I have either a bad switch or motor. The relay in my 94 is the same as one of the ABS relays (the numbers on top of the relay were exactly the same) I swapped the relays around and this did not make any difference so I am assuming that it is not relay related in my Truck.
My fan just died while I was sitting at a stop light. Changing the speed, turning on the AC or putting it to defrost made no difference. I Inspected the fuse under the dash and all was good. I have checked the relay and it appears to be functional. I suspect that I have a bad motor. Time to pull out the multimeter and start diagnosing. I will also remove the motor and "hot-wire" it directly and confirm that it is functional. Looks like I have a fun day in store as it is barley 30 deg outside.
I took the fan out and bench tested it with a couple of jumpers to the battery and it worked fine.
I then removed the resistor and found that it was completely covered in leaves aluminum foil and pine needles. Yes you guessed it a mouse had taken up residence in the space between the ac "cooler core" and the fan. The aluminum foil had shorted the resistor and caused the fan not to work.
I cleaned everything up and removed the mouse house from my truck and now the fan works fine. The air flow for the heating/cooling system also flowed allot stronger as well.
Add this to the list of fan fixes. I took photos and will post them later tonight
I have not had the chance to work on it yet, just cruising around on high. I will take a look into the "mouse house" problem if my resistor does not work.
