I know yall get tired of this type of post but please bear with me. My mom will probably give me our 84 F-150. I would like to sell it and buy a 4WD. i am wondering what I should ask for it.
84' f-150 reg. cab longbed 2 wheel drive. Interior in 99 % factory new condition. carpet is faded and that's about it. Body in good shape. No rust, red paint that shines up very well, couple small dents at rear of bed from a fight in which I put a guy's head into it. Had a topper at one point and all the sealer needs to be scraped off the bedsides and around the rear glass. Camper shell comes with it. 4 speed stick, overdirive instead of granny gear, high rearend gears combined with inline 6(rebuilt about 200 miles ago) make for great gas mileage, average 20, as high as 22. new brake booster, master cylinder, rotors, calipers, pads and bearings, and a ne clutch being put on as we speak, and throwout bearing, slave cylinder, pressure plate and flywheel resurfaced, as well as a fairly new starter. would not take much to be restored.
I'd pay a visit to kbb.com, nada.com, local newpapers and auto trader publications. Be honest and not sentimental when establishing value. Deduct for defects from kbb.com and nada.com prices.
This sounds like a nice truck!! If the body really is solid(no rust, no bondo), and the paint is original and still shines up nice, this truck should sell in the $3000 range. It sounds like it's in excellent mechanical condition, and the 300 I-6 is a good engine. If it's an XLT with ac and some power options, that would add more value to it, assuming everything works.
Ever thought of converting it to 4WD? I have never done it, but have heard it's a bolt in deal. I am sure some of the guys in this forum have done it before.
