front axle question

front axle question

i got some pics here http://community.webshots.com/user/viking769 take a look
i got some slop in these parts and i think this is where a viberation is coming from but doesnt viberate all the time
usally it will start viberating when i hit a bump then when i hit another bump it will stop doesnt matterer what speed iam at
the one pic with ring hanging down what up with that
do any of u think my front axle needs to be rebuilt ?

The ring.....is a poor attempt to hold the rubber boot in. All of mine have broken. I still have the boots in place, so I don't know if they do anything at all anyway.
There shouldn't be any slop in the ball joints or the U-joints between the stub and inner axles. If your going to tear this thing apart......make sure you get a complete list of needed parts. Some you won't be able to look at until it's apart such as the carrier bearing that the stub axle rides in, as it goes into the hub. There are alot of parts that make up just one corner. Just make sure your real famillure with it before you begin. Hope this helps.
