These are brand new. When I adjusted them the set screws turned hard except for one of them, it turned easy. It had some drag but not at all like the other one. These were purchased months ago so I can't return them. I've read about an over size set screw for this, or should I just buy a new rocker? Where can buy this oversized screw?
DSC sells the .003 oversize adjusters. I've had good luck with them if the rocker is worn enough to get the .003 to fit. If it's not it will start to thread, **** and then crossthread. You really need to tap the rocker .002 for the .003 adjuster if it's pretty new still. There used to be .002 adjusters but have not seen those for years....anywhere. Find a good machine or tool and die shop that can tap the rocker for ya. The stock rocker arm thread size is 7/16 x 20 with a pitched diameter of .4025-.3978. By the time you chase all this down it might be cheaper and less time consuming to just get a new rocker....LOL, G.
What ya might be able to do? is buy the .003" oversized screw..and intead of opening the thread in the rocker..sneak up on it with the set screw by taking some emery cloth and taking a little of the threads on the screw and trying it for fit..and if its still to tight take a little more off of it..Just a thought to keep from having to retap and chase the threads!!
