Can anyone tell me the step by step process for swapping the stock rear leaf springs? For example, does the entire rear axel have to be dropped or can the springs be replaced on at a time with only one side of the axel loose.
I did mine one at a time. You need to jack up the bronco and use jack stands but you can do each side seperately. Squirt the nuts and bolts rear good with some PB Blaster. I had to use a punch to get the bolts loose and push them throw.
I would also do one at a time, unless you have help. It's very hard to get everything lines back up by yourself. Just make sure your rig won't roll and make sure it's stable.
its actually a very easy process and can be done by one person. i have done it more times than i care to remember. it'd prolly ber easiest to do it one at a time but it isn't all that hard to line everything back up.
you will need to take all the weight off the springs. once you have your truck on some tall jackstands and your ubolts/ubolt plates removed you can just drop the axle all the way down. but be careful and dont let the axle roll off the jack as this can be tough to get back on. also dont let your driveshaft sliude out or that could be another 10-15 minutes. then just unbolt the front hanger bolt and then the rear shackle bolt. thats it. its easy and for a first timer prolly take you an hour after setting up and getting all the tools handy
