Question pwr window trbl

My buddy has a 93 F350 4 dr dually and the drivers side pwr window won't go down anymore. He sez it makes a noise, but nothing happens. I have a 97 with pwr windows, but haven't worked on them before. Is it pretty straightforward to replace these, and what is usually the trble? Is there poprivets to drill out?
Is a used motor worth the effort to install or should he just go with new?
Thnx in advance

Usually the gear has an epoxy clutch center which acts as a shock absorber, they will disintegrate and then let the motor freewheel. Click on my name and email me and I will send info and pics for correct removal........do not drill out the rivets.

That's the same thing that went out on mine. After calling around I just got a new motor for something like $60 at autozone since it wasn't too much of a difference than the junk yards quoted and I didn't have to drive around searching. It's pretty straight forward to replace. Took about 30 min to do mine. I think it was just three 10mm bolts to get out.
