I just put a set on my 81 F150 (I upgraded to the 87 through 96 style). They are well built and I doubt they will ever have problems. I had to return 1 for the ball joint hole was too big, but they checked a bunch and sent my new one the same day they received the old one. A very nice bunch to work with. I bought them through summit racing, but they said return it directly to them, with a copy of the receipt. They stand behind their product.
The bending issue was started by AIM, and it is a smear tactic. Look at your suspension, tell me where it could bend, and on top of that, wait until you pick one up, these things are substantial! Everything bolted up like stock, fit and finish is really good for a suspension member. They are also the least cost alternative.
3 inch drop doesn't sound like much, but it is! I had to change wheels and tires because the old offset was a bit too much and the tires hit the fenders anytime a bump or leaning in to a turn occured. I was running 275/60/15 on 15*8 with a 4" offset.
I would send a picture, but it is back in the garage while I am installing the 4 inch belltech shackle and hanger kit (I didn't want the flip kit, for you really need to notch the frame at that point).
