F250 SDSC 4x4 Shortbed/Camper Q's

I have an 03 F250 SDSC Short bed 4x4, GVWR 8800#, Camper options. Trying to find a camper for it. Found a nice Fleetwood Elkhorn 8S model, currently sitting on a long bed. Camper weight is 2200# dry, 2600-2800 wet. CG is called out as 68", but I have no clue where to measure from. Camper bed lenght is 8'7", similar to all the Lance rigs, but they call out CG's from 48" to 68" depending on model. Not one dealer has been able to help. Fleetwood is no help either. Can anyone tell me if this camper is OK for my shortbed? Can anyone tell me how to measure CG properly? Or does it vary by camper? I assume this has to do with how much camper weight is how far back, too much too far = bad things, right?
