charging problem 78 F-250...HELP
ford guys: truck died on me.had it tested [not to mech here]was told it was the altinator.hooked it up right i think.same problem..was also told the regulator was alright.still the same problem.i need this truck.it's my daily driver.battery is alright.had that tested. .the alt has two snap in one's and one large wire [battery cable size]coming from a rectangular box mounted near the radiator.was told that it was after ad on due to it being a camper special.could i have hooked the wiring wrong?.the battery sized cable i hooked up to the battery side in the altinator. the two smaller wired i think i had right.would it make much of a difference.seen on the board that people also buy a regulator when replacing the alt.is it neccessary?.i'm stuck,frustrated and re=charging the battery overnight.what does field,stator on these mean.thanks guys for the assistance...joe

I had sort of the same problem I not to familure with that year truck but some one told me fuseable links could go bad But my problem was my little red plug that goes in the back of the alternater would slide back enough to drain my battery. sorry if i'm not any help
