Question Wheel bolt pattern?

I'm looking at buying a 1986 F250 460 w/ 40k original miles. Does anyone know off-hand what the lug pattern is? 6 or 8 lug? and spacing? Thanks in advance for any help.

It will be 8 lug. I believe GM was the only one to continue to use the 6 bolt pattern. Even then, they were still half tons.

6 bolts were used on some 3/4 tons, 8 bolts came later.

6 bolt 3/4 ton bolt patterns on the older units can be crossed over(Chevy vs Ford rims). The difference there is that Chevy ran a 16 diameter tire, where Ford ran an 16.5 inch tire. The Chevy size is easier to find, and cheaper....more desireable. Much as I hate to admit that.

Ford never ran a 6 bolt axle before the current F150's that I'm aware of, perhaps in the 40's or 50s, but, not any later than that. Anyhow, the truck in question is an 86, which is 8x6.5" with 9/16th studs and a 1-1/16" lugnut from the factory.
